How MyDrive Works
What is MyDrive?
Put simply, MyDrive is a product which allows us to measure exactly how well an individual drives a car.

How does it work?
From a small box in each car, we gather enormous amounts of data (sampling once per second), from which our powerful analysis records then assesses the capability of the individual driver. We then generate a very simple, easy to understand output, so each driver can see exactly how well they’re driving.
The product knows exactly where you are (including the actual road features, such as when you are approaching a roundabout), when you are there, and how you are driving.
By monitoring your driving every second, MyDrive develops a detailed picture of how safe your driving style is. This is unique – most other devices will take a snapshot every thirty seconds, while logging any sudden braking or acceleration, but this means they miss vital details.
It’s the difference between a pinhole and a panoramic camera.

With the support of RoSPA, we have built up a simple, reliable method for assessing driver risk. It is made up of 3 main components:
Driving style (75%)
Combination of personality traits and skill; journey mission, attention and distractions; familiarity
Road context (15%)
Road types – generic road types and specific cases; hazards – bends, junctions, etc.
Conditions and environment (10%)
Darkness, congestion, weather, urban/rural, etc.
